Fruit mapping

The Fruit Mapping Angola report shows that there are abundant possibilities for increasing the agricultural productivity of Angola. On a macro-economic level, the agricultural sector is of great significance for Angola in terms of import-substitution and export-promotion.

The Provinces of Benguela, Huambo and Kwanza Sul represent 40% of total Angolan fruit production. Since 2015, fruit imports have stabilised at between US$23 million and US$32 million per annum. Of these imports, apple and pear rank highest, followed by citrus and grape. Angola’s export market is a more recent development, beginning in 2017. Since that year, exports have increased steadily, growing from US$400,000 to close to US$2.5 million in 2018, and were expected to double in 2019.

Lobito Corridor (Angola) – Fruit mapping was commissioned by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency. The report provides the private sector and the governments of Angola, the Netherlands and other European countries with the information needed to invest in the Angolan fruit sector and for the development of the Lobito corridor.
